Phthrrt - the story

Phthrrt was begun in about 1987 by a group of like minded Bangor University students with little better to do than make silly jokes, eat chinese take-aways, go to church, and make silly jokes in church. The common themes were Christianity, Bangor, and a liking for silly noises and jokes about trees (leaf it out). The group continued after university, with its members as far flung as Argentina, Scotland and West Sussex. Jokes were developed, recycled, and regurgitated at regular intervals, and many pastors have played an embarrassed host to the official greeting ceremony. Other activities have included: climbing Snowdon successfully at 3am (once), getting lost on Snowdon at 3am, (twice), sleeping on floors in assorted locations around Britain, and most recently, learning to sail. The group have a mailing list, and the latest few letters are available here for your amusement.
